G'day, KGWO🎼

This week's rehearsal, on Thursday 3 September, will be in the concert hall at the usual start time (doors open at 6.30 pm). We haven't been made aware of any onsite parking issues this week, but it's always best to arrive early if you want to have the best chance of getting a car spot onsite.

This week's supper will be provided by our percussion and trombone sections, and remember to bring your mug from home if you will be after a hot drink at the break. And as always, remember to offer your assistance to our percussionists in their setup and/or packup.

Some audience feedback from concert 2, Whispers of the Winds

• What a great concert it was yesterday, so different and so much work, done wonderfully by the orchestra.
  I am always amazed at the ideas that emerge, the music that accompanies them and the way the KGWO seems to be able to rise to the occasion. The complexity of music and standard of playing seem to be higher with each concert. Well done, as always! Am looking forward to the final 2026 concert at the end of November.
  
  

• The concert was very well done, but I thought the first part was a bit odd.  The music was good but the story was    ??? odd
  
  

• I found the concert amazing. I had not attended a classical music concert in over 20 years. The music was expectedly good for a longstanding woodwind orchestra but the theme and associated story caught my imagination and made me decide to come. The costumes and interactivity left me wanting more. This was so much better than a straight  music performance. I would suggest that the event could easily have been sold out if a better effort had been made to get word out about the unique ideas supporting the concert. In this respect, and only this respect, I would say the orchestra let itself down. Maybe the venue would consider improving the snacks at intermission and having more prominent disability parking places? Overall a very positive afternoon outing.

A number of you took some great photos of the group backstage before the concert (particularly of those in costume). If you have backstage photos on your phone, please upload them to our members website so everyone can see them. On the home page, click on the 'Upload your photos' link in the upper right-hand corner and follow the instructions! Who knows, one of your photos might be chosen to replace the old group photo on the home page!

A note from the Old Museum

'Following on from last week’s reminder about the risers, can we also ask everyone to please respect the QYO equipment and make sure that anything you borrow is returned to its rightful place.

A couple of reminders:

• Please ensure the timpani in the Concert Hall are covered at the end of rehearsals.

• Please leave all beaters with their respective instruments.

• If you move or use any equipment, please return it to where you found it.
