This is a website just for Kelvin Grove Wind Orchestra members.

KGWO is a community orchestra. We live and die based on the support and hard work of our members. Please think about what you can do to help your organisation thrive and grow. The more we spread the load, the stronger we will become. Not sure what you can do? Ask! Or even better, join the management committee! But its the simple things that make the difference. Help with setup and pack-up at rehearsals and concerts, welcome new members and make them feel at home, help with supper, put away chairs and risers, carry percussion gear - if you see something that needs doing, do it! We have a great organisation, lets keep it that way. Thanks everyone! :-)

2026, term 2😄

Rehearsal, Thurs 21 May:

G'day, KGWO🎼

Hopefully everyone has been able to keep dry during this exceedingly wet weather🌧️☂️ and that the BOM's rain-free Thursday forecast will prove to be accurate🌞

This week's rehearsal, on Thursday 21 May, is scheduled in studio 2 again at the usual time (doors open at 6.30 pm), with our trumpets, euphos and horn on supper duty. There is yet another event scheduled in the concert hall, but our ability to park shouldn't be affected as the event patrons have been told to park offsite. The other good news about parking is that we've been told that the lower carpark spaces that had been roped off are now fully available. That all said, if you want to park onsite, make sure to arrive as early as you can. And a reminder from the Old Museum about parking: only park in designated spots; don't park on any yellow lines and never on the grass.

There isn't any other new news, so just some reminders here:

keep checking your inbox for the arrival of the survey regarding the planning of our 30th anniversary concert next year
send your concert-1 audience comments to the committee at kgwo@kgwo.org.au, as per my comments in last week's orchestra-wide email
music samples for our term-2 music can be found on our members website (on our landing page), as per my comments in last week's orchestra-wide email
if you haven't paid your term-2 fees yet, please do so as soon as you are able (see last week's orchestra-wide email regarding how to pay).

Important information for the Concert

(More details will be added as the information becomes available.)

ARRIVAL

If you can help set up, please be there by 11 am.

Everybody else needs to be there by 11:30 am to get ready for the warm-up at 12 noon. See running order for details.

PARKING

Please triple park orchestra member cars in the bottom car park, and consider car pooling where you can. Parking may change depending on other events at the venue. There will be very limited guest parking on site. See the main website for suggested alternatives.

DISABLED PARKING

If a reserved spot is required for your guests, please request on-line ASAP. I will email a confirmation. If you don't get this, talk to me directly!!!

CONCERT DRESS (standard event)

Men: Black long sleeve shirts (a red bow-tie will be provided), long black trousers, black shoes. No jackets required.

Ladies: Black dress or blouse preferably with long sleeves and covered neck. No bare shoulders/back please, sleeve preferable below the elbow. Long black skirts or long black pants, and sensible black shoes. Black jacket is optional. A red rose will be provided.

MUSIC STAND

We will be hiring the QYO music stands for all future concerts.

PACK UP

At the end of the concert EVERYONE is asked to please help pack up.

Tasks to be assigned to each section or individuals and will be directed on-stage for speedy pack-up.

When everything is cleared away, only then can we ALL celebrate together with drinks & dinner at the Jubilee Hotel.

5:30 Vacate Concert Hall and venue
